Wetenschappelijk Medewerker / Research Associate Collectors’ marks on prints and drawings

Since 2010, the Fondation Custodia has been publishing an updated and expanded online edition of Frits Lugt’s Les Marques de collections de dessins & d’estampes (1921 and 1956). In order to strengthen the team that manages and enriches the database, the Fondation Custodia is recruiting a Research Associate.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working within the existing team, he or she will collaborate in researching collectors’ marks on drawings and prints, writing the resulting database entries, and managing the documentation. They will also participate in correspondence and communication, as well as in the promotion of the project at conferences and seminars or in the form of articles.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in art history (a French Master 2 or its equivalent abroad), proven experience in writing scientific texts, solid knowledge of the graphic arts and more particularly of the history of their collections, and a good understanding of existing international institutions and collections in this field. Proficiency in French (the language of the database records) and English is required, and a high level in one or more other languages is desirable. A good command of current office automation tools and an ability to work as part of a team are also required.
TYPE OF CONTRACT
Permanent contract, 35 hours per week
SALARY
Gross salary between EUR 3200 and EUR 3700 per month (to be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience)
