11-2: Hals Meets Manet, Singer Sargent, Van Gogh

On 12 October 2018 the Frans Hals Museum opened the exhibition Frans Hals and the Moderns, which will be on view till 24 February 2019. This is the first time that Frans Hals’ paintings have been displayed alongside reactions to his work by late 19th-century painters.

The exhibition resulted in new insights, and simultaneously raises new questions, which will be addressed during the symposium on 11 February 2019. The morning session is dedicated to four stimulating presentations. In the afternoon session, case studies and specific questions will be discussed in front of the paintings.
